Plumbing and heating work on a construction project often begins long before the finished rooms start to take shape. For this project, we started with underground drainage pipework during the groundworks and later moved on to the underfloor heating installation across the internal floor areas.
The project shows the different stages of the work and how we progressed from the early drainage installation to laying the completed underfloor heating pipework inside the property.
Project Overview
The work completed as part of this project covered several stages:
- Underground drainage pipework during the groundworks
- Floor preparation for the heating installation
- Insulation across the internal floor areas
- Underfloor heating pipework laid over the prepared floors
- Heating pipework extended through multiple sections of the property
These stages allowed us to complete the plumbing and heating work as construction progressed.

Starting Below Ground with the Drainage
We began with the drainage installation while the ground was still open and the pipework was accessible.
The footage shows drainage pipes running through the excavated areas, with different sections connecting as the network developed. This stage allowed us to establish the required pipe routes before the later building and floor work covered them.
Much of this drainage installation would eventually become hidden, making this an important stage of the project to document.
Moving from Groundworks to the Internal Floors
Once the groundworks had progressed, we moved on to the internal floor areas and prepared them for the heating installation.
Insulation boards can be seen across the floor areas before we laid the underfloor heating pipework. This marked the move from the initial below-ground drainage work to the heating system being installed within the property.
Laying the Underfloor Heating Pipework
We then laid red heating pipes across large sections of the prepared floor.
The pipework follows repeated routes across each area rather than travelling directly from one side to another. We worked around the shape and divisions of the internal space, with the wider sections of the installation covering multiple areas of the property.
Working Around Different Floor Areas
The heating installation covered several floor areas, so the pipework had to be arranged around different sections, edges, and room divisions.
With the pipework still visible at this stage, you can clearly see how the individual runs were positioned across the floor areas before the next layer of flooring was added.
Completing the Underfloor Heating Installation
By the final stage of the project, we had installed the underfloor heating pipework across the insulated floor areas.
The completed pipe layout can be seen across multiple sections of the property before the next stage of construction covered the system. This marked the completion of our plumbing and heating work shown in this part of the project.
